About GatewayFree
GatewayFree answers one question for each ISP gateway: can you use your own router with it, and if so, how?
Most advice online mixes ISP rules, forum guesses and outdated firmware screenshots. We start from the ISP's own support pages and manuals and record what they say, which model it covers, and the date we read it. Where an ISP's pages don't settle the question, the answer is unverified and we say why.
What exists today
39 gateways have researched pages; 83 more models are queued, with no page and no claim until we've read an ISP source for them. A modem-by-ISP list records only modems an ISP's own list shows.
Who runs it
GatewayFree is an independent, editorially run reference site. It isn't affiliated with, sponsored by or endorsed by any ISP named here. No individual author is named yet; pages are published under the GatewayFree editorial team and follow the editorial policy.
How it's funded
At launch the site carries no ads and no affiliate links. If affiliate links for routers or modems are added later, they will be marked, disclosed on the page and explained in the affiliate disclosure, and they will never change a verdict.
Found a mistake?
ISPs change firmware and policy often. A public correction channel is being set up; until then there is no contact mailbox on this site, and we'd rather say so than list one that nobody reads.
