Frontier's help center says that after activation you may replace the Frontier router with one you choose, buy and install, but it supports only the routers it supplies, and a non-Frontier router may not be compatible with your services. No bridge-mode procedure was found on the page.

How to set it up

  1. Activate service first using the Frontier router or modem.
  2. Then you may swap in your own router (Frontier gives no model-specific steps).

Know before you switch

  • Frontier only provides technical support for Frontier equipment and may not manage some services with your own router.
  • frontier.com showed a 'Frontier is joining Verizon' banner on the day we checked; confirm current policy.

How sure are we?
