Xfinity WiFi Router (XER10): own router and bridge mode

Partial
Own router only through Xfinity's fiber-to-the-unit program, by request
- Bridge modeNot in the ISP pages we read
- IP PassthroughNot applicable
- Own routerPartial
Xfinity lists the XER10 as its Wi-Fi 7 router for fiber-to-the-unit (EPON) homes. A separate Xfinity page says residents of eligible communities can ask to use their own third-party Ethernet router connected to the ONU, replacing the leased gateway (it names the XB7 and XER10). Bridge mode is not documented for the XER10 itself.
Model numbers: SCER11BEL · Type: Gateway (modem + router)
How to set it up
- Check that your community is eligible (Xfinity does not publish a list on the page we retrieved).
- Contact Xfinity to ask to use your own router, and have the router on hand.
- Once swapped, connect the router to the ONU with an Ethernet cable and activate it yourself.
- Return or keep the Xfinity gateway as Xfinity tells you.
Know before you switch
- Not supported with your own router: Xfinity Voice, Pods, Smart Home services, Zigbee devices and gateway-based speed testing (Xfinity).
- Xfinity cannot troubleshoot your own router; the ONU stays Comcast-owned (Xfinity).
- Your router must support your speed tier (Xfinity).
- The XER10 listing says its Admin Tool at 10.0.0.1 is available; no bridge toggle is described for this model.
