AT&T BGW320-500 (All-Fi Hub): own router and bridge mode
Can I use my own router with the AT&T BGW320-500 (All-Fi Hub)?
Partial
Use IP Passthrough (AT&T documents no bridge-mode switch)
- Bridge modeNot in the ISP pages we read
- IP PassthroughYes, documented by the ISP
- Own routerYes, documented by the ISP
AT&T documents IP Passthrough on the BGW320, which hands the public IP to your own router. AT&T describes passthrough as an alternative to bridged mode and shows no separate bridge-mode setting.
Model numbers: BGW320-500 · Type: Gateway (modem + router)
How to set it up
- Open your gateway settings from a computer connected to the gateway and sign in with the Device Access Code printed on the gateway sticker (if asked).
- Go to Firewall, then IP Passthrough.
- Set Allocation Mode to Passthrough and Passthrough Mode to DHCPS-fixed.
- Enter your own router's WAN MAC address in the Passthrough Fixed MAC address field.
- Save, then choose Restart Now. Reboot your router (and the gateway if needed) so it picks up the new public IP.
Know before you switch
- Only one device can be placed in passthrough mode (AT&T).
- A device in passthrough mode loses the firewall protection provided by the AT&T gateway and gets a WAN IP instead of a LAN IP; other devices on the gateway may not be able to share files with it (AT&T).
- AT&T's articles name 'BGW210 or BGW320' without the -500/-505 suffix, so the model suffix is not separately confirmed by AT&T.
How sure are we?
Confidence is high. Passthrough steps are from AT&T for the BGW320 family; the -500/-505 suffix is not named on the page.
This page reports what the ISP documented on the date above. ISPs change firmware and policy; if your gateway screen differs, trust your ISP's current page.
