In February 2022 a Verified Employee Moderator on Spectrum's community said Spectrum's standalone routers, including the SAC2V1K, cannot be put in bridge mode, because bridging would turn off both Wi-Fi and the router's Ethernet ports. The suggested route is to use only the Spectrum modem with your own router or firewall in router mode, and return the Spectrum router.

Model numbers: SAC2V1K · Type: Standalone router (ISP-provided)

How to set it up

  1. Connect your own router (or firewall) to the Spectrum modem's Ethernet port.
  2. Leave the Spectrum standalone router out of the setup; the moderator said it can be returned at a local Spectrum store.

Know before you switch

  • The statement is from a February 2022 community post (edited July 2023), not a current support article.
  • The moderator did not say whether newer standalone routers behave the same way.
  • Which modems are accepted on your account is governed by Spectrum's modem policy (see the modem list).
